Bryan Thurlow
Borley Rectory's Ghostly Goings On
Bryan treated us to a lively and atmospheric look at Borley Rectory — once dubbed “Britain’s most haunted house.” His tale began with the Reverend and Mrs Smith, who moved in during 1927 and soon discovered a young woman’s skull hidden in a cupboard. What followed were reports of strange lights, eerie footsteps and even a ghostly horse‑drawn carriage.
Bryan also explored the more down‑to‑earth explanations: mischievous maids, nervous imaginations and the enthusiastic embellishments of spiritualists like Harry Price. Though the rectory itself no longer stands, its legend lives on, still drawing curious visitors and ghost‑hunters to the village.
A fascinating and entertaining glimpse into one of England’s most enduring ghost stories.
